We are looking for a Billing Insurance Coordinator to join our clinical team in Arlington, VA

Our ideal candidate would serve as a patient advocate and educator in regard to treatment plans. They will be responsible for increasing treatment plan acceptance by educating patients on the necessity of treatment, creating treatment plans for case presentation, assisting the patient to make any financial arrangements, and ensuring completion of the patient’s treatment plans through scheduling.

Our ideal candidate would also have full knowledge of dental insurance, experience with sending/posting dental insurance claims, and experience with insurance company follow up.

They will be responsible for answering phones, responding to emails and texts, handling patient inquiries, making appointments, and being a support person to the staff members and patients; all while being flexible in handling requests and projects assigned, as needed, by the Office Manager. All aspects of the job will require an exceptional level of customer service, communication skills, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Our Front Desk staff members are the first line of customer service for all patients and visitors entering our office, as well as serving as the last-impression as patients check out. Some of the responsibilities for this position are:

  • Providing top-notch customer service
  • Acknowledging (smile and greet) patients upon arrival/dismissal
  • Verifying current contact and insurance information
  • Answering telephones
  • Checking and responding to emails and voicemails daily
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments
  • Maintaining appointment book
  • Follow up on no shows/cancellation of appointments
  • Maintain a clean and friendly waiting area for patients
  • Presenting and explaining treatment plans
  • Addressing patient questions and or concerns
  • Assist the patient in prioritizing the treatment and establish a plan for scheduling and payment
  • Understand dental benefit plans and be prepared to educate patients on their dental benefits.
  • Build trust, and understand the patient’s objectives
  • Post charges and payments to patient accounts
  • Generate and process dental claims, both electronically and on paper
  • Follow-up on claims regularly to ensure timely payment from dental insurance plans
  • Review insurance EOB’s for payment accuracy
  • Track patient accounts, receivables, and outstanding balances to ensure timely payment.
  • Assist in collections process for all outstanding balances.
  • Perform general office duties and other duties as required

Qualifications

    • Experience working in a dental office as a Treatment Plan Coordinator or Biller, preferred. Will consider someone who works in a dental, medical, or other health-care office in another position. Willing to train the right person!
    • Experience working with various dental insurance plans, specifically PPO plans
    • Knowledge of sending/posting dental insurance claims, preferred but not required
    • Must have exceptional customer service skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience answering telephone and proper phone etiquette
